He says he’s ‘hopeful’ that the US and Iran will talk directly again, which could lead to lasting peace.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan helped the US and Iran talk, calling it a proud moment. He added that better teamwork between politicians and the military has made Pakistan look better to the world.
He said this in an interview with The Sunday Times.
“This is a great moment for our country. Pakistan is now known around the world as a fair go-between and a nation that global leaders truly trust. It’s a time of pride for us, and like 240 million other Pakistanis, I feel very proud,” he said in the interview that came out Saturday night.
The prime minister said he was:
“We’re lucky to be in this great role,” he said.
“Luckily, Iran trusts Pakistan, and so do the US government and the Gulf countries. I appreciate Presidents Trump and Pezeshkian for accepting our invite,” he said.
The leader said that Pakistan is still working for peace and added that “peace is not easy to achieve.”
“You must be patient, wise, and able to get things done even when facing tough problems.”
Right now, we’re working hard to make sure this peace attempt leads to lasting peace. We’re having another meeting in Islamabad, and we hope it works out.
Our country’s reputation around the world has totally improved because our political and military leaders are working together.
The Prime Minister praised Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir, stating: “We’re witnessing teamwork between political and military leaders. I must recognize the Field Marshal’s important contribution, which history will remember.”
He praised Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar’s hard work, saying he has been actively talking to other leaders and working tirelessly.
