ISLAMABAD:
Aleema Khan, the sister of former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, went to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday. She is challenging his ‘unlawful and long solitary confinement’ at Central Jail Adiala in Rawalpindi, claiming that it breaks his constitutional and human rights.
Barristers Salman Safdar and Salman Akram Raja filed the legal petition. Those named in the petition include the head and assistant head of Adiala jail, the head of Punjab prisons, the NAB chairman, the FIA director, the Pims medical head, and the government.
The petition argues that no court ordered the 74-year-old ex-Prime Minister to be held alone in the Al-Qadir Trust Case or the Toshakhana-II case. However, it claims jail officials have kept him isolated for about 22 hours daily for the past six months without any legal reason.
