Khawaja Saad Rafique urges politicians to end the blame game and work together for Pakistan.

LAHORE:
A top leader from PML-N, Khawaja Saad Rafique, suggested on Sunday that political parties should come together and agree on a new set of rules for democracy and the economy. He emphasized the need for political understanding and talks to address the growing issues of terrorism, economic problems, and division in the country.

Speaking at an event in Lahore, ex-minister Khawaja Saad Rafique stated that Pakistani politicians must eventually unite to lessen political problems and solve the country’s growing issues.

He stated that the political tension in Pakistan needs to decrease, noting that frequent violence and terrorism require widespread agreement across the country.

The ex-minister stated that the government and opposition need to agree on critical national matters, especially security and the economy. He also said that all political groups that respect the Constitution should be involved in political discussions.

He also said that PTI can’t keep avoiding talks with other political parties forever. He noted, “If countries that are enemies can make peace, then political groups in Pakistan can also talk to each other.”

Saad also said local governments need protection in the constitution. He believes constantly getting rid of them has made government weaker and made problems between provinces worse.

He said he agreed with the idea of smaller provinces, but didn’t like plans to only divide Punjab. He believed all provinces should be treated the same way.

Saad defended Nawaz Sharif’s silence about being removed from power, stating, “People complain Nawaz Sharif doesn’t talk. How much more should he say? He has already suffered a great deal for it.”

“The people in our party don’t talk, but I do. That’s why I’ve stayed independent,” he stated. Later in his speech, the PML-N leader discussed regional and global matters. He praised Pakistan’s 1998 nuclear tests and thanked the military, scientists, and political leaders for safeguarding the country’s nuclear program despite international pressure and economic problems at the time.
