A broadcaster said they spent $150,000, which is a great investment if it succeeds, but it often doesn’t.

After many IVF attempts, four lost pregnancies, and much sadness, Erin Holland and her husband Ben Cutting are finally going to have their first baby.
The model and TV host, well-known to cricket fans from presenting the Pakistan Super League (PSL), announced on the Stellar podcast that her five-year struggle to have children was also very expensive.
“I did the math, and it’s shocking. It’s like the cost of putting money down on a house,” the 37-year-old said to Sarrah Le Marquand on “Something To Talk About”. “We’ve spent $150,000, which is worth it if it’s successful, but often it’s not.”
The ex-Miss World Australia mentioned that getting pregnant took 20 IVF attempts, five egg retrievals, seven embryo implants, four miscarriages, one ectopic pregnancy, and countless shots.
Holland mentioned she got pregnant shortly after discussing her difficulty conceiving on a podcast episode in January.
“You asked how long I could continue, and I replied it’s hard to say,” she said. “I didn’t realize the end was so near.”
She was excited to be pregnant but said that past disappointments made it hard to fully enjoy it.
“Honestly, it still feels like I’m waiting to get in,” she said. “I’m next in line, but not inside yet. I know enough to realize that getting pregnant isn’t guaranteed.”
She explained that infertility and losing pregnancies had taken away the joy of seeing a positive pregnancy test.
She said the hardest thing about infertility and losing a baby is that you lose the simple joy of seeing a positive pregnancy test. The first time you see it, you’re so happy and excited.
“The second time, you’re carefully happy. By the third or fourth time, you think you’re being tricked.”
Holland mentioned that the pregnancy only felt real after the 14-week ultrasound.
“We recently had our 20-week ultrasound, and I’m beginning to feel the baby move. Honestly, it feels like a complete miracle,” she said.
