RAWALPINDI: Sources say Bushra Bibi, wife of ex-PM Imran Khan, was returned to Adiala jail Wednesday. This followed a medical checkup at Rawalpindi’s Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital.
Sources say the former first lady went to the hospital with strong security for a check-up on her eye, which was operated on April 17 at the same hospital.
Sources say that regular check-ups have been done in Adiala jail since the surgery.
The ex-first lady had eye surgery at the hospital last month because she had trouble seeing out of her right eye. This made the jail staff get her checked quickly by eye doctors.
Bushra was taken to the hospital on April 16 because doctors found a detached retina and said she needed surgery right away.
Sources said that Dr. Nadeem Qureshi and a medical team performed the procedure after getting her permission.
After her surgery and a night in the hospital, Bushra was released and taken back to Adiala jail.
The ex-first lady is in jail for seven years because of a £190 million corruption case. In December 2025, she got 17 more years in prison for the Toshakhana-2 case, which involved buying fancy government gifts for less than they were worth.
