PML-N leader asks PPP chief to give up bitterness.

MUZAFFARABAD: Past prime minister and PML-N head Nawaz Sharif on Friday told PPP leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari not to take political comments personally, stressing healthy political competition over anger.

Nawaz Sharif, with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, spoke at an election event in Mirpur, about 258 kilometers from Muzaffarabad. They blamed rival groups for making big promises before elections and then passing the job of fixing public problems to the central government.

“This is Kashmir, not Kashmore, and this is Mirpur, not Mirpurkhas,” Nawaz said, referring to two districts in Sindh where the PPP has ruled for many years. He promised to bring a “new time of growth, wealth, and modern roads and buildings” to AJK.

“A PML-N government will make AJK modern by improving transport, schools, hospitals, and other services,” Nawaz told the crowd. He added that he would personally watch over important projects across the area.

“The people of Mirpur should get the same good public services as in Punjab,” he said. He added that if electric buses can run in Lahore and Islamabad, then the people of AJK should also have them.

Nawaz said the PML-N has always done development projects in AJK and dared his political opponents to name any government that has done more important work there. He said, “Wherever you see big development work in AJK, you will see the mark of the PML-N.”

He also said that all good students in AJK will get a laptop to help them use modern education and technology.

Speaking at the rally, Maryam Nawaz called herself a ‘daughter of Kashmir.’ She said her grandparents from both her father’s and mother’s side came from there. ‘I feel Kashmiri in my heart and soul,’ she said, and she is proud of being Kashmiri even though her political enemies criticize her.

The leader of Punjab said she was worried about the bad roads in Mirpur. She said the city should have better roads because Kashmiris have helped Pakistan grow.

She promised that if her party wins the election, they will give 10 new electric buses to Mirpur. She also said Nawaz Sharif promised to build a big modern airport there and he always keeps his promises.

Maryam said AJK also needed programs like those in Punjab, such as new hospitals, free medicine delivered to homes, transport projects, food cards, and social safety nets.

Without naming PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, she criticized parties that made big promises during elections but then blamed the federal government for fixing public problems after winning.
