ISLAMABAD: On Tuesday, the PTI party strongly criticized the government’s new budget in the Senate. The party’s leader, Barrister Syed Ali Zafar, called the plan a “budget of broken promises.” He claimed it contains eleven major flaws and will fail to help the public or grow the economy.
Zafar criticized the FY2026-27 budget, stating that every budget should do two things: help everyday people and create long-term jobs and growth. He argued that the government’s new plan failed at both. He claimed it provides no real help to families in need and offers no reliable way to fix the economy.
“Sadly, this budget fails both goals. It doesn’t help regular people, and it lacks a real plan for long-term economic growth or job creation,” he told the Senate.
The PTI senator added that the government ignored eleven key areas needed for a strong economy. These include long-term growth plans, industrial and farming reforms, helping exports, creating jobs for youth, and growing the IT sector. He also mentioned the need to fix energy debt, create better energy policies, invest in water conservation, address climate change, manage population growth, and improve education.
Talking about education, Zafar said: “Education is the base for growth and success, but the government seems to have ignored it. It is as if the government does not want people to learn, preferring to leave them uneducated.”
He also blamed past governments for using quick, temporary solutions instead of fixing the deep problems in the economy.
