Actress Zara Noor Abbas spoke openly in an interview about being a mom, handling her acting work along with her family, and the support that’s important for new mothers.
Zara, who was in the TV show ‘Dil Dhoondta Hai Phir Wohi,’ is married to actor Asad Siddiqui and they have a daughter. She talked about being a mom and how women are often criticized for gaining weight after pregnancy, with people expecting them to quickly return to their pre-pregnancy bodies.
Zara spoke about the problems working mothers face in society and at work. She mentioned the wrong idea that women can’t handle both a job and a family. Challenging these unfair expectations, the actress asked for honest and open talks about being a mother in Pakistan. She said mothers shouldn’t feel bad for being tired, emotional, or not perfect.
Zara mentioned that becoming a mother greatly impacted her character and feelings. She stated it made her more relaxed, gentle, and understanding, particularly towards women and mothers. Moreover, she described how having a child alters what’s important and how a mother instinctively forms a deep emotional link with her child that’s hard to put into words.
Zara talked about being criticized for her body during her career and how it hurt her feelings. She said people in the entertainment business and online always commented on her weight, body, and clothes, saying she was “too wide” or “too large” for the industry.
She also said that some companies didn’t want to hire her because they thought she wasn’t skinny enough.
The actress said the negative comments really hurt her and made her doubt herself. She admitted that some comments about her body made her cry and wonder who she was. But, she eventually decided to not let other people’s opinions control her. She wants women to stop feeling bad about how their bodies change naturally because of pregnancy and being a mom.
The actor said people should stop talking about women’s bodies, especially after the hard work of having a baby.
