On Friday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved the draft for the 2026–27 federal budget. He led a cabinet meeting in Islamabad to look over the budget plans.

The Prime Minister also thanked the partner political parties for supporting the new budget.

The prime minister also thanked the IMF for its help.

At the meeting, government ministers showed their support for the prime minister by banging on their desks.

The Prime Minister thanked the PPP, MQM, IPP, BAP, and PML-Q parties.

The Prime Minister’s speech to the cabinet will be shown on official news channels.

In an X post, PM Shehbaz said the budget was made with hard work and honesty, focusing mainly on helping the people of Pakistan.

The Prime Minister spoke on the phone with PML-N President Nawaz Sharif to explain the details of the new federal budget. Nawaz Sharif told the Prime Minister to provide as much relief as possible to the people and warned that rising prices must be controlled to reduce public suffering.

Additionally, the Prime Minister met with an MQM group in Islamabad to discuss the budget and the nation’s political and economic issues, according to his office.

Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, a federal minister and leader of MQM, led the group. Other members included Federal Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal and lawmakers R. Javed Hanif, Farooq Sattar, and Aminul Haque.

Several top government officials were also there, including ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Azam Nazeer Tarar, Ahad Khan Cheema, and Attaullah Tarar, along with advisor Rana Sanaullah.

The meeting was about the 2026–27 Federal Budget, which should be released soon.

In a statement, the PMO called MQM an important partner in the government and noted that its work for the economy and public well-being was recognized during the meeting.

He said the government will keep working with MQM to help the country and its people.
