KARACHI: The weather in Karachi will likely be hot and dry for the next day. Temperatures should stay under 40°C, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department on Tuesday.
The Met Office says the high today will be between 37°C and 39°C. Overnight, the lowest temperature was 26.5°C. Right now, there’s no wind and the humidity is 48%.
Rescue workers told Geo News on Monday that at least eight people have died in Karachi. Some deaths are due to the city’s extreme heat. They found four bodies on the streets, and four more people died after being taken to hospitals.
Rescue workers reported that the people who died were found in areas including Manghopir, Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Boat Basin, and near Suparco Road.
Four more people from different areas died after getting sick and being taken to hospitals.
The weather department said Karachi had its hottest day this year on Monday, reaching a temperature of 44.1°C.
At the same time, doctors suggest people stay indoors as much as possible, mainly when the sun is strongest (11 AM to 3 PM). Drink plenty of water and be careful to avoid problems from the heat, as the hot weather is expected to get worse.
They’re telling people to not eat street food, only drink boiled water, and avoid things that aren’t clean, as these can cause stomach problems.
People are also told to wear light, airy clothes and cover their heads when they go outside.
