Babar Azam Confident Ahead of Pakistan’s First Test Against West Indies

TAROUBA: Pakistan Test captain Babar Azam said he feels good about the first Test against the West Indies. The match starts on Saturday at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy.

Babar talked about the team’s preparation on the day before the Test. He said the players worked hard on their fitness and can play well.

“As a team, we are fully ready. Our preparations have gone very well. We have been getting ready for this series and the upcoming tasks for almost two months,” he said.

“The players have worked very hard on their fitness and on getting better at their skills,” he added.

After being chosen again as Pakistan captain, he said he felt sure of himself because he learned a lot from the first time.

“I don’t feel any pressure. I’m confident because I’ve been given the captaincy again. I learned a lot from my first time as captain, and I’ll use that experience this time,” Babar said.

“We have a good mix of young and experienced players. As a team, we feel confident,” he added.

Today, Pakistan’s top batsman Abdullah Fazal was hurt and can’t play in the West Indies and England tours.

Babar praised Fazal, especially for his first series against Bangladesh. He also said the weather helped fast bowlers.

“I hope Abdullah Fazal gets better fast. I think he is very good because he is a very skilled player. The way he played in his first games showed he was very sure of himself.”

“The pitch looks very different now. It has been raining, and the ground has been covered. The weather here usually helps the fast bowlers,” he finished.
