The Punjab government warned about many herbal medicines that have a hidden drug ingredient.
The Drug Control Department said some unregistered herbal medicines tested by the Punjab drug lab contained Sildenafil Citrate, a drug for erection problems, but it was not listed on the labels.
The products did not have key manufacturing info, like the maker’s name, batch number, and tracking details, so you could not check where they came from, or their quality, safety, and genuineness.
Investigations showed that the products were being sold online.
The found products were: Tofani Majoon, Majoon Khora, Capsule Sanda Timing, and Capsule Kasturi Plus.
The notice says that none of the four products listed have a batch number or manufacturer name that contains Sildenafil Citrate.
The warning also said that having Sildenafil without listing it can cause serious health problems. These include very low blood pressure, fainting, heart issues, long-lasting erections, sudden loss of sight or hearing, and dangerous reactions with nitrate medications and other drugs.
It also ordered that stores and sellers stop selling and spreading these products right away, keep all current stock separate, and tell the Drug Inspector how much they have and where it went.
