Hina Parvez Butt, a Punjab lawmaker and head of the Women Protection Authority, criticized writer Khalilur Rehman Qamar for his insensitive comments about acid attacks during a TV show. She said his remarks hurt the fight against violence against women.

This issue has become popular again following a recent acid attack, leading Hina to speak out about it on social media.

During the show, Qamar argued that people often unfairly label all men as attackers. When acid attacks against women were discussed, he joked, “You make it sound like men walk around with acid bottles in their pockets.

” Hina criticized him, saying his joke made a serious crime seem less important and ignored the victims.

Later, Hina posted on social media that she was shocked by the comment and how the topic was handled. She wrote that men with the same mindset as Khalilur Rehman Qamar are harmful to society.

She explained that ignoring or making light of violence against women supports bad social habits and makes the problem harder to fix. She also argued that people who do not understand how sensitive these topics are should not make careless remarks.

She wrote that women who survive acid attacks feel like ‘living corpses,’ highlighting the permanent physical and mental damage they face.

Hina also argued that some people still blame women for the violence they endure, which she said prevents victims from getting justice.

Hina disagreed with Qamar’s comments. She argued that the main focus should be on helping survivors and stopping future violence. She said real change happens when society, leaders, and organizations work together with empathy and responsibility to protect women and end violence.
