Pakistan’s cricket ranking climbed from seventh to sixth place, gaining seven points, according to the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday. This change happened after they re-evaluated the results.
Australia remains the number one Test team, increasing their lead in the ICC rankings to 131 points.
South Africa, the current World Test Champions, are still in second place with a rating of 119, increasing their overall score by three points.
India moved up to third place with 104 points, passing England, who fell to fourth with 102 points in the rankings.
England’s ranking fell because wins before April 30, 2023, such as home series against New Zealand and South Africa, and a 3-0 win in Pakistan, were removed from the ranking calculation.
New ICC Test Rankings:

The Blackcaps are currently ranked fifth. Pakistan also went up in the rankings and is now in sixth place with 89 points, ahead of Sri Lanka, who has 86 points.
This change happens because England’s 3-0 series win against Pakistan is no longer fully counted, and Pakistan’s 2-0 series loss to Bangladesh in 2024 now counts half as much.
The West Indies (8th), Bangladesh (9th), and Ireland (10th) round out the top 10 in the updated Test rankings.
The Pakistan Test team, led by Shan Masood, will go to Bangladesh for two Test matches. This series counts towards the current ICC World Test Championship 2025-27.
The series starts with the first Test match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka from May 8th to 12th.
The second Test match will be held at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium from May 16th to 20th.
Later in the year, Pakistan will also play Test series against England, Sri Lanka, and the West Indies.
