Keep Kids Safe: Why Pakistan Needs to Stop Violence Against Children Right Now

BY Mahnoor | 11-07-2026

A message calling for the protection and safety of Walis and Muntaha Zahras, highlighting concern for their well-being.
Protect our friends Walis and Muntaha Zahras. Every life deserves safety and respect.

From the busy streets of Sargodha to the crowded roads of Karachi and the quiet areas of Mirpur Khas, the happy laughs of our children have been stopped by terrible acts that no parent wants to face in their worst dreams. Little Muntaha Zahra, just seven years old, went to buy sugar from a small shop in Block 8 and never came back. Her small body was found inside the shop, with clear signs of pain and death.

In Karachi, young Muhammad Wali, a six-year-old boy, disappeared from outside his house. He was found in a bag a few days later near Lea Market — raped and killed by a man he may have known as a neighbor. And in Mirpur Khas, two innocent cousin sisters became victims of a man who called himself a faith healer and his helper. One died, and the other is in the Intensive Care Unit fighting for her life.

These sad events are not just one-time things. They are painful reminders of the badness that can hide in places we know – like corner stores, neighbor houses, and fake ‘spiritual helpers’ who sell cures. As a Pakistani person who feels the pain of every mother’s crying and every father’s broken heart, my soul cries out to Allah. We all belong to God, and we will all return to Him. These dear lives were our shared future, our happiness, and our ‘Ameen’ in prayers. Today, their sad deaths call for not just anger, but also for action – from us, their parents, their protectors.

The trust we give to the world

Our culture sees children as sacred gifts from Allah. We teach them to respect their elders and ask for help when they need it. But these events show how their innocent trust is horribly used.

A normal trip to the store, playing outside, or visiting a religious leader turned into a terrible nightmare.

As parents all over Pakistan worry in fear during the quiet hours of night: ‘How can we keep them safe?’

I respectfully give some advice

Teach children about boundaries and that no one should touch them wrongly or make them feel bad – do it with love.

Stay active in your children’s lives – know who their friends are, where they go, and how they treat people they see often.

Carefully check anyone who says they are a ‘healer’ and never leave your kids alone with them.

Encourage neighbors to watch out and stay alert; tell the police about odd actions or people quickly. Build your family’s strength and faith by praying together.

Spend less time outside with little watching over you, especially at night, and be ready to hear your children’s fears and problems.

Push for better laws and faster justice while carefully protecting your own kids.

Keep your family close today. Give them soft kisses on their foreheads and thank God for the precious blessing they are. You are the protection your kids require. Oh God, keep safe the innocent kids of this beloved country Pakistan. Give power to the sad families and help us be better protectors.

This is what we must give back to them. This is what we owe to our people. May the souls of Wali and Muntaha Zahra rest in Heaven, and may we never have to grieve for another child like this again. So be it.
