KARACHI: A big meeting about the Pakistan Super League (PSL) might happen on July 29. Teams are waiting for their money from the main fund, and the board wants payments from a major partner who still owes money.
Leaders and team owners will talk about these issues in the meeting.
Here are the details: The 11th PSL ended on May 3, with Peshawar Zalmi winning the championship.
A meeting set for July 29 will discuss important issues about the tournament. Because most team owners are currently overseas, the meeting will be held online.
They are already sure to be free, and July 30 is a backup date.
People say the money for the 11th version is not yet set, and teams are still waiting for their share from the main pot. This will be talked about at the meeting. According to the deal, half of the payment should have been given within two months.
But the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) pays for things like player salaries, travel, and hotels. So, those costs are taken out of the money the teams get. Also, 10% of that money is held back.
Sources said the delay happens because one big partner hasn’t paid what they owe. A partner from the last event also didn’t pay their bills.
But officials still think these problems will be fixed.
Also, with two new teams, eight teams played in PSL 11.
The PCB promised the 7th and 8th teams at least 850 million rupees from the central pool for the next five PSL seasons, starting from PSL 11.
If the money from any tournament is less than this guaranteed amount, the board will pay the difference.
Or, new teams might get a discount equal to the missing amount in the next contest’s payment. But normally, the main money pool share is more than 85 crore rupees.
