PRETORIA: South Africa’s cricket captain, Aiden Markram, believes that because they are the current World Test Championship (WTC) champions, other teams will be eager to beat them. Their new WTC journey starts with two Test matches in Pakistan from Sunday, followed by two matches in India in November, as they aim to defend the title they won in June by defeating Australia at Lord’s.

Captain Markram anticipates a lot of spin bowling in their two-Test series against Pakistan. He also acknowledges that as World Test Championship (WTC) titleholders, South Africa will be a major target for other teams. They begin their new WTC cycle with two Tests in Pakistan, followed by two in India, aiming to defend their title. Markram, leading the team due to Bavuma’s injury, emphasizes the need for continuous improvement in all conditions to reach the final again.
