Deputy Prime Minister Dar says the former senator is now safe at the Pakistani embassy in Amman
. Dar thanks all friendly countries for helping with his release. Ahmad reports he was treated badly while held by Israel.
Ishan Dar, the Deputy Prime Minister, announced on Tuesday that Mushtaq Ahmad, a former senator, has been freed. Israeli forces had arrested him when they stopped a flotilla carrying aid to Gaza.
He is now safe at the Pakistani embassy in Amman. Ahmad was one of many people detained after Israeli forces intercepted the Global Sumud Flotilla, which was bringing humanitarian assistance to Gaza earlier in June.
Deputy Prime Minister Dar posted on X that former senator Mushtaq has been freed and is now safe at the Pakistani Embassy in Amman. He’s healthy and in good spirits. The Embassy is ready to help him return to Pakistan whenever he wants. Dar also thanked the countries that helped get Ahmad released.
“I want to thank all the friendly countries that helped us,” he said.
The ex-senator said he was treated badly while held by Israel after being caught on the Gaza aid boat that Israeli soldiers stopped last week.
The ex-senator, currently in Jordan being looked after by the Pakistani Embassy in Amman, stated he plans to go back to Pakistan soon. He will then provide further information regarding his time in custody. He also mentioned, “We will keep fighting for Palestine’s freedom.”
