On Friday, Pakistan’s top billiards player Mohammad Asif won another important match by beating India’s Brijesh Damani 4-3 in a close game at the IBSF World Masters Championship in Bahrain. Asif reached the final after a strong 4-2 victory against India’s Manan Chandra in the semi-finals on Thursday at the Crowne Plaza Bahrain.
The match started off calm, but quickly became a tense battle between the two skilled players. Asif won the first two frames easily, but Damani surprised him by winning the next three, putting pressure on the Pakistani champion. With the score at 2-3, Asif got back into his groove. He tied the score at 3-3 and then won the decisive frame to claim the title. The final scores were: 98-37, 75-55, 00-80, 49-52, 41-64, 91-29, 78-9, showing how tense and unpredictable the match was. This victory is Asif’s sixth world title. Over the years, he has won three individual world championships and two team titles, solidifying his place among the best in the sport.
Naqvi celebrates Asif’s win
Mohsin Naqvi, the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), was among the first top sports officials to respond to Asif’s exciting victory. “Great job, Mohammad Asif. The nation is proud of you,” Naqvi said in a statement, noting that Asif had honored the national flag by defeating an Indian opponent in the final. He praised Asif’s talent and focus, calling the win a result of “great skill and effort.” “Asif has made Pakistan proud again. Whether in sports or other areas, Pakistan is shining everywhere,” said the PCB chairman. He also hoped that the success of talented young people like Asif would motivate future achievements. “God willing, this winning spirit of Pakistan and its young talent will continue,” he added.
