Leaders helped calm things down after two political parties agreed to stop arguing after a long time.

After weeks of political arguments between provinces, the ruling parties, PML-N and PPP, have agreed to stop criticizing each other. Officials said this happened after a quick meeting between top leaders from both parties.

The harsh words started over flood money given through the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP). The fighting got worse when Punjab’s Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz, said other parties used the floods in Punjab to gain political points.

The PPP wanted flood victims to get help through BISP, but Punjab refused. After strong words from Maryam, PPP members in the Senate and National Assembly walked out, hinted at leaving the coalition, and demanded she apologise

. Maryam refused to apologise, saying she’d protect Punjab as chief minister and those who made fun of the province during the floods should apologise instead. To ease the growing tension, the PML-N sent a team led by Ishaq Dar to Zardari House.

Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi helped negotiate to ease recent tensions between two provinces.

President Asif Ali Zardari asked the government team to tell their party members to be careful and avoid escalating the issue. The PML-N team agreed, suggesting both sides should communicate before speaking publicly.

Sources say DPM Dar played a key role in improving understanding between the groups. The goal is to stop the back-and-forth arguments that have been in the news lately.

Sources say that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has scheduled a Central Executive Committee meeting on October 18 in Karachi to discuss the party’s future plans and recent disagreements with PML-N.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif told party leaders to address the PPP’s worries through discussion, emphasizing that political statements shouldn’t harm their working relationship. For now, the main takeaway is that both parties want to ease tensions and stay in communication.

They’ve decided to talk more and argue publicly less, at least for now.

To ease tensions, President Zardari asked Naqvi to help the ruling party PML-N and its partner, PPP, talk things out. PPP leaders Palwasha Khan and Senator Waqar Mehdi kept criticizing Maryam’s words

. Khan said PPP is a partner, not a servant, of PML-N. Mehdi suggested Maryam might be plotting against her uncle.

PTI leader Asad Qaiser invited PPP to join the opposition, promising support for a no-confidence vote against the government without any demands. PTI’s Salman Akram Raja said the PPP and PML-N’s ‘friendly fight’ will end soon, but he doesn’t see them forming a coalition.
