Sanaullah says PPP and PML-N often work together. Bilawal’s comments annoyed the Chief Minister of Punjab, according to the PM’s helper. Kaira from PPP accuses PML-N of damaging their relationship.
ISLAMABAD: Rana Sanaullah, who advises the Prime Minister on political matters, said on Tuesday that the current issues between the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will decrease when leaders like Asif Zardari, Shehbaz Sharif, or Nawaz Sharif talk directly.
Speaking on Geo News, Sanaullah said that the two parties often work together even though they disagree politically. “We have worked together and struggled together,” he said, adding that while PPP and PML-N compete politically, they aren’t enemies.
The argument between the PPP and PML-N about flood relief money given through the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has gotten worse. This happened after the Punjab Chief Minister said other parties used the province’s flood disaster to gain political points.
The day before, PPP leader Raja Pervaiz Ashraf left the National Assembly meeting. He stated his party wouldn’t participate until they got an explanation about the Punjab ministers’ comments about Sindh.
Seeing the split between the PPP and PML-N, PTI leader Asad Qaiser offered the PPP his party’s help to bring a no-confidence vote in the National Assembly.
Sources told Geo News that President Asif Ali Zardari has asked Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to help mediate between the political pa
They added that Naqvi will meet with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif tomorrow (Wednesday). He will ask the Prime Minister to help ease the tension between the two parties.
During today’s program, Rana mentioned that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto’s recent press conference remarks were inappropriate, implying the Punjab government wasn’t doing a good job.
Sanaullah stated that the Punjab chief minister was not happy with the comments. He added that it was Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s job to respond when people questioned how things were being run in Punjab
. He said that Maryam is not only the chief minister but also a leader in the party, and all party members defend their leaders. He suggested that Asif Zardari is the right person to advise Bilawal, and Shehbaz or Nawaz Sharif should talk to Maryam.
On the same program, PPP leader Qamar Zaman Kaira mentioned that it is important to understand where the recent disagreement between the two parties started.
He reminded everyone that the PPP helped the government during the floods and that Bilawal had complimented the Punjab government’s work when he visited Kasur and Multan
. Kaira explained that Bilawal only suggested giving money to farmers who lost everything, like they had done before through BISP. He stressed that Bilawal did not tell anyone to ask for help from other countries and that the PPP does not want the situation to get worse
. Kaira accused the PML-N of breaking promises made when the government was formed and said that the leaders in Punjab were being too inflexible on important matters. He clarified that their issue is with the PML-N, not the national government.
He also said that CM Maryam’s way of speaking was unfortunate and that responding in the same way would only damage their relationship. He added that if they start arguing harshly, the relationship between the two allies will suffer.
